A blog by Lauren L Caron

Combining the skills from working in creative services and full-service interior design, Lauren's innate ability to art direct and style, allows her to create sets for editorial shoots and finish spaces for interior shoots at an outstanding level. She is equipped with the knowledge and expertise of history and trends, speed, and a decisive vision. Her artistic hand and sensitive eye also lends itself well to creating sculptural elements or props to the degree of floral arrangements, backdrops, light upholstery and sewn elements. Lauren also occasionally takes on styling for small private events or press presentations, as well as seasonal decorations for upscale private homes and retail brands.

Eclectic Library

Private Residence

Refining this already beautifully designed and lived-in space for a photoshoot in a private residence, Lauren quickly styled this room in under two hours. The intention was to maintain the authenticity of the home, while having a clear point of view.

By shopping accessories from the home and editing existing pieces out, she further defined the aesthetic of an eclectic library with the perfectly 'un-styled' library books, stacks of magazines and layered textiles.

Inspired by the Moschino RTW 2018 Spring Summer Runway show, Lauren created this exuberant, life-sized floral bouquet costume.

The entire costume was handmade, constructed of faux silk flowers, for the head and neck-piece. The dress was made of tulle accessorized with an oversized red ribbon and thigh high green boots to emulate flower stems.

Lodges on Vashon Island Retreat

Lauren was asked to speak about styling and floral arranging at home with the most accessible floral items - foraged branches and greenery and grocery store blooms.

For this event she created a few arrangements using only items foraged from Vashon Island and purchased from the local grocery store.

Liebe Is Jam

Food Styling

Liebe is Jam is a local Brooklyn business with a rich heritage in European comfort cooking. Originally from Germany, the founder and owner Nicole Rutsch, of the jam label turned catering company - Nicole Rutsch Catering, called upon Union Adorn to create a series of styled images to depict the process and creative uses for her homemade jam collection. Through Union Adorn, Lauren collaborated with Starling on Bond, an event design company in Brooklyn to create a colorfully beautiful, spread of the recipe defining ingredients, food, cocktails and of course jams. The results were mouth watering good!

Press Preview SS2015 + FW2015

Working in collaboration with the New York based prop rental company Octavia & Brown, Lauren utilized the O&B collection of props to create three unique narratives for the Pikolinos brand press preview event, held at the Ace Hotel in New York City.

The result was a layered presentation, inspired by the laid-back attitude of the Mediterranean lifestyle, which is influential to the Pikolinos brand.
