This is the final date to link up for the One Room Challenge! So i't’s time to pre-reveal the room with plans to share the final reveal when the chairs and window treatment hardware arrive. Details about how this space of many layers seems to somehow work, based on the principles of design.
It’s here, the REVEAL! This tiny but mighty little jewel box can finally sparkle. I am so happy I decided to participate this year! It’s just the motivation we needed to complete this space.
We are in the home stretch! I am feeling the heat as we try to pull it all together. Last week the big accomplishment was the wallpaper. But let’s discuss the huge mistake I made just when I was finished! Causing me having to redo an entire section of the room!
After a week off to from the One Room Challenge, this week we were able to check off a few big items from the To-do List. With these items being completed, this room is really starting to come together.
This week is a little about all progress and a lot about the jib door we’re installing. It has been the topic of conversation at home and the major factor in the success of our completion of this project. Sounds silly to be so focused on a door, but this one design decision has impacted a lot of other decisions, and has created an domino effect.
After a little over a year, (in fact we just resigned our lease) I am revealing the almost finished living room! Along with before and after photos of the space to see what we started with.
The basic principles of visual design are balance, proportion, rhythm, emphasis, and unity. Much like 2D visual art and design, quality interior design follows the same principles. I've compiled some of my favorite rooms as examples to show how each principle is represented in this field of design.
